Increasing Performance and Decreasing Training Costs With Web-Based Learning

In an era of lean resource and small crew sizes, when even minor training and performance gaps can have an advance impact on mission readiness, the U.S. Coast Guard needed to deliver timely, focused, and responsive training to its far-flung workforce. A diverse team evaluated whether live Web Based Training (WBT) would perform effectively and be affordable. Based on its results, a follow-on Web Based Training Implementation Group is rolling out live WBT as a standard training delivery system that significantly reduces costs while improving field access to high-quality training resources. It offers the Coast Guard an opportunity to provide the training it needs without giving up the rich level of interactivity and flexibility found in resident instruction. [Download PDF]
