2010 State of the Industry Report

The State of the Industry Report is ASTDs definitive review of workplace learning and development trends. This annual report includes data from ASTD BEST Awards Winners, ASTD Forum members, and other organizations from 2002 to date.

ASTD estimates that U.S. organizations spent $125.9 billion on employee learning and development in 2009. Nearly two-thirds of the U.S. total ($78.6 billion) was spent on the internal learning function, such as staff salaries and internal development costs. The remainder ($47.3 billion) was allocated to external services such as workshops, vendors and external events.
